Bread comes in savoury and sweet flavors, and as a bread lover, I enjoy them equally!

On this occasion, I will share a recipe for bread that is fried and filled with meat, or we can call it a fried bread recipe. This recipe is very handy for bread lovers who do not have an oven at home. That's because you can use a frying pan to make this bread.

The bread in this recipe is quite easy to make, not only because it's handy, but because the ingredients are very simple and easy to find. The main ingredients are flour, margarine, sugar, salt and yeast. But the most important one is yeast. You have to use yeast to let the dough rise, if you don't use yeast, the bread will be dry, and the dough will fail. So, in addition to make the yeast work, let the bread dough rest for 30 minutes or 1 hour and wrapped to prevent air from leaking or coming in. This will make the dough rise well and result in soft and fluffy bread.

In this fried bread recipe, I use ground beef seasoned with sweet soy sauce and oyster sauce for the filling. You can replace it with honey if you don't have sweet soy sauce. In addition, I added potatoes and carrots to add a soft and crunchy texture when eaten. The overall taste is sweet and savoury because I used sweet soy sauce and seasoned it well with salt and pepper.

Notes*

  • Make sure always sprinkle flour on the surface to avoid the dough sticking to the surface
  • When you fry the bread, you have to use a low fire. It makes the inside of the dough well cooked.

ingredients

  • For the filling

    • 120 gramground beef
    • 100 gramcarrot
    • 220 grampotato
    • 70 gramonion
    • 2 tbspcooking oil
    • 1 tspsalt
    • 1 tsppepper
    • 2 tbspsweet soy sauce
    • 2 tbspoyster sauce
    • 100 mlwater
  • For the dough

    • 250 gramall purpose flour
    • 2 tbspsugar
    • 0.5 tspsalt
    • 1 tbspyeast
    • 150 mlwater
    • 30 grammargarine
    • oil(for frying)

Making the filling

  1. Cut the carrot and potato into small cubes.

  2. Cut the onion into dice and chop the garlic.

  3. Pour the cooking oil and heat the pan over medium heat. Stir fry the onion and garlic until fragrant.

  4. Put carrots, potatoes, water and add seasoning; salt, pepper, oyster sauce, and sweet soy sauce. Keep stirring for around 5 minutes and set aside.

Making the fried bread

  1. Put the all-purpose flour in a bowl, add sugar, salt, yeast, margarine and pour water. Then knead the dough until soft.

  2. Divide it into roughly 15 portions.

  3. Roll the dough using a rolling pin. Put roughly a tablespoon of the filling.

  4. Fold the dough, pinch the upper part until it's covered then make a ball shape. Do it repeatedly.

  5. Sprinkle flour on a tray then put the dough on it. Cover it with a towel for 30 minutes. Let it rest.

  6. Pour the cooking oil, and heat the wok over low heat. Fry it until golden brown colour then set aside. Fried bread with Beef filling is ready to serve!
