A curry puff is a pastry skin filled with meat and vegetables, seasoned with curry spices. Singapore and Malaysia are two of the most common places to find curry puffs, but they originated in Southeast Asia. The flavours of India and China come together in this dish. This food is usually served as a snack. When you visit Malaysia or Singapore, you must try curry puff, and it is very easy to find as street food.
I made this recipe because when I was travelling to Singapore or Malaysia, curry puff became one of my favourite foods because the price was quite cheap and tasty. Besides that, curry puff can also be used as an afternoon dish accompanied by coffee or tea and can also be used as a lunch box for students.
I use margarine for skin dough ingredients, but you can replace it with butter. Margarine will make the skin texture more crunchy, whereas if you use butter, the skin will feel softer when it is fried.
For the filling, I use ground beef and potatoes. If you like chicken, you can also replace ground beef with chicken. You can also add vegetables and boiled eggs, which will definitely make it even better. I also added one teaspoon of chilli powder. If you like spicy, you can add more chilli powder.
For the overall taste, the curry puff that I made was very delicious and very similar to the curry puff I ate in Malaysia while on vacation there. The taste is very savoury and balanced you should try this recipe.
What's more about this curry puff is; it's you can fry it up whenever you want to eat it because it will last longer if stored in the freezer.
So without further ado, let's try my curry puff recipe. You definitely will like it.
